Ari Lennox
Courtney Shanade Salter, better known by her stage name of Ari Lennox, is an American artist and performer born in Washington, D.C., who was the first woman to be signed to J. Cole's Dreamville Records record label. In October 21st, 2016 she debuted Pho, her debut EP on the label Dreamville Records. This was when she began to gain notoriety. Her debut studio album Shea Butter Baby was released on May 7 2019. Ari Lennox started uploading her music onto the internet in 2012 when she dropped her first mixtape Five Finger Discount and debut EP Ariography in 2013. In 2014, she released more music via the Internet including Bound. She appeared in Omen's Elephant Eyes as well as from Sweat It Out, on July 21 in 2015. J. Cole was interested in her talents and was keen to collaborate with Rihanna. On December 8 it was announced that she was officially signed by Dreamville Records. Backseat was the result of her participation to the Revenge of the Dreamers II album. In October 21st, 2016 the debut EP of Ari Lennox was released, titled Pho. Ari Lennox then appeared as the opening performance on behalf of J. Cole on his track Change in 2017, and was a part of the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour. In 2018 she went on to guest feature on two of her songs along with labelmates EarthGang in Nothing but the Best and Bas on Icarus. Ari Lennox dropped her first single Whipped Cream from Shea Butter Baby on July 16th. A music video followed followed by a video in September. In November, she dropped the singles 40 Shades of Choke & Grampa. Two more singles were released by her on 11/13 Pedigree and No One. Shea Butter Baby. Shea Butter Baby then made an appearance in the Creed II album soundtrack alongside Cole. She dropped this single as a way to celebrate her debut album titled Creed II on 26 February 2019. The song, released with a video uploaded to YouTube 20 February 2019 has been watched over 3 million times within the first 7 days. In December 2018, she was part of the From East Atlanta With Love Tour, which featured 6LACK.
